7:38 am true confession

I tell people that my husband, Mr. J, is a baby when he's sleep deprived and that I handle it rather well.

This is a LIE!

Well. The part about the darling Mr. J not being able to function on little sleep is true. However, I have discovered that I too am a big baby when sleep deprived. I actually turn into a raving lunatic. In fact, this is me being all raving and lunatic-y. Be afraid!

Whew. I'm so glad I got that off my chest.

Christmas "Torment"

Ok, so why have I been posting a unusually large amount of content on my blog lately? Perhaps it's because I'm in my last two weeks of my first quarter of grad school and I'm desperate for ways to avoid copious amounts of homework and studying. Viola! My self destructive procrastination is instantly turned into a selfless sacrifice for you, my readers. Or something.

So, why is my Christmas 'tormented'? (seriousness alert!) I find that at this time of year highlights a basic struggle I have within myself. In one corner: the all American temptation to buy STUFF (pretty stuff. mmmmmm...). In the opposite corner: a Christian conviction that excessive buying of things is not what Christmas is about, nor is it what I want to be about. Stuff (even pretty stuff) won't make me happy, but sometimes pretty things are nice to have and relatively harmless (?). So, where is that delicate line drawn?

Just one of the many things that I think about. I'm not actually this deep, FYI. I'm just procrastinating. :)

More procrastination to come!!

7am in Pasadena

At least I have a cup of coffee to keep me company?

One more thing...

Don't make me do any more school work...please!!

For those of you who had no idea that I was actually IN school, I cannot blame you as I have not updated my blog to keep you updated on my INCREDIBLY busy and important life.

This is getting old...

...and by "this" I am referring to the sparse blog updates. No time for me to write anything awesome or inspirational. That is all!

Again, long time no post...

Hi!

First, a quiz: http://pewresearch.org/millennials/quiz/

I find generational differences incredibly interesting. The time that an individual grows up in has a huge impact on how they view and interact with the world. It is, of course, not the only thing that influences an individual, but it's amazing to see how we can divide ourselves up into generational cohorts with many similar views, ideas and worldviews.

So, how millennial are YOU? I myself scored a measly 17. I think it's because millennials are (according to research from the Pew Charitable Trust) the least religious generation ever, as well as the idea of political activism (apparently millennials trust institutions more than their predecessors, thus perhaps feel less inclined to "interfere"). I am religious as well as moderately mistrustful of institutions; I think that might have pulled me down a bit in the ranking.

That's all for now! Peace OUT.
