Christmas "Torment"

Ok, so why have I been posting a unusually large amount of content on my blog lately? Perhaps it's because I'm in my last two weeks of my first quarter of grad school and I'm desperate for ways to avoid copious amounts of homework and studying. Viola! My self destructive procrastination is instantly turned into a selfless sacrifice for you, my readers. Or something.

So, why is my Christmas 'tormented'? (seriousness alert!) I find that at this time of year highlights a basic struggle I have within myself. In one corner: the all American temptation to buy STUFF (pretty stuff. mmmmmm...). In the opposite corner: a Christian conviction that excessive buying of things is not what Christmas is about, nor is it what I want to be about. Stuff (even pretty stuff) won't make me happy, but sometimes pretty things are nice to have and relatively harmless (?). So, where is that delicate line drawn?

Just one of the many things that I think about. I'm not actually this deep, FYI. I'm just procrastinating. :)

More procrastination to come!!
